Region

Schaffhausen is a historical town and municipality in northern Switzerland, situated on the banks of the High Rhine. The old town of Schaffhausen is known for its Renaissance architecture, featuring beautifully decorated buildings adorned with frescoes and sculptures. The town is also home to the Munot, an old fortress. Schaffhausen serves as a railway junction, connecting the Swiss SBB and German DB rail networks. Visitors can travel from Schaffhausen to the nearby Rhine Falls in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, which is Europe’s largest waterfall and a popular tourist destination. The official language in Schaffhausen is Swiss German. The nearest airport is ZRH, Zurich Airport.
